Get a Library Card
Your Argyle Public Library card is your key to a world of resources — books, eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, activity kits, online databases, and more. Best of all, it’s free!
Who Is Eligible?
Library service is open to all residents of the community and the Southwest Wisconsin Library System (SWLS) service area, which covers Crawford, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland Counties in Wisconsin.
Service will not be denied or limited because of religious, racial, social, economic, or political status; mental, emotional, or physical condition; age; or sexual orientation.
For Adults
Adult residents of the SWLS service area may register for a 30-day temporary library card online. To receive your permanent card, please bring photo ID and proof of address to the library.
For Children
Applicants under 13 years of age must have a parent or guardian provide consent on the application form before a new card can be issued. (This parental signature is not required for children who are renewing cards.)
For Non-Residents
Non-residents who live outside the SWLS service area may still use the library. Please contact us for information about non-resident card options.
How to Get Your Card
- Register online for a temporary 30-day library card using the SWLS online signup.
- Visit the library in person to get your permanent card — bring photo ID and proof of address.
- Materials cannot be checked out until a library card is issued.
What Your Card Gets You
- Books, magazines, DVDs, and audiobooks from the Argyle Public Library collection
- Materials from any of the 28 libraries in the Southwest Wisconsin Library System via interlibrary loan
- Digital eBooks, audiobooks, and eMagazines through the Libby app
- Free access to online databases and resources including genealogy, career tools, language learning, and more
- Activity kits from the Library of Things
- Use of library computers (sign in with the last 4 digits of your card number)
Card Details
- All library cards expire after 5 years.
- Lost or stolen cards should be reported to the library as soon as possible. Replacement cards cost $3.00.
- Patrons are expected to bring their library card when checking out items. Repeated failure to do so may result in loss of checkout privileges.
